Thumbnails Slow To Load Windows 10

 admin

We tried all of the above and did not work.we reset the machines and still did not work.I was browsing the shares and was not able to replicate their issue. However, i sat with them for half a day and kept looking at how they were browsing the network files and folders and when I replicated their way, my system started showing the same problem. For some reason they kept using the 'Back' button on the file explorer to move between folders which slowed down the browsing speed and files and folders from opening. When they stopped using the back button and browsed using folder tree structure, everything worked perfectly fine.not sure if this is a solution or a known issue. However, it worked for us and everyone is happy working again. This is 50/50 but is a quick thing to try.Once they are in the share select all the folders and then right click on them to bring up the pop-up menu.

Select properties and go to the customise tab. Change the 'optimise this folder for' to General and then place a tick in the box to also apply this template to all subfolders. Click apply and then click ok. Perform a check on some folders further down the folder tree to make sure they are now optimised for General. Close the Explorer window related to the share with the problem and now try again and see if things are better. If the customise tab isn't on the properties window then one or more of the folders won't let you perform the customisation on it, so you may have to do it one by one or in blocks until you find the offending folder.Hope this helps. This is one of the most annoying things about Windows 10.I just want to see my printers, yet Windows 10 groups together 'devices' and 'plug-and-play' media devices along with my printers, making what should be an instantaneous view of my printers a (sometimes) 60sec delay waiting for Windows to complete the view with the green progress bar moving slowly.

Windows 10 maintains a cache database with thumbnail images for every folder, document, video, and picture on your computer. This database is used to quickly display a preview of a file or to give you a glimpse of the content of a folder or file before you open it.The problem with the 'thumbnail cache' is that it grows over time as you create new folders and files, and sometimes the database will become corrupted. You'll notice this because File Explorer will display thumbnails incorrectly, some files may not show a thumbnail preview, or sometimes thumbnails may not be available at all.Thankfully, includes a few ways to reset and rebuild the thumbnail.db hidden files containing the data to display file previews. In this, we'll walk you through the process to recreate the thumbnail database using the Disk Cleanup tool and Command Prompt to solve this problem.
